Sira Naturals becomes initially Massachusetts marijuana enterprise with unionized workforce


Sira Naturals announced Friday that is becoming the initially marijuana enterprise in Massachusetts to have unionized workers.

Workers at Sira Naturals will join the United Meals and Industrial Workers Union Regional 1445. The agreement will cover 115 workers.

Corporation management worked with UFCW and the workers to enable them to join the union, according to a statement from the enterprise.

UFCW currently represents thousands of workers in the legal marijuana sector in other states.

Sira Naturals’ founder and president, Michael Dundas stated in a statement, “As the biggest cannabis union in the nation, we think UFCW will be a robust companion in paving the way for a new generation of union agreements that reflect the value of a robust and independent labor force in the cannabis sector.” [Read More @ Mass Live]
