Garden Remedies will begin selling marijuana at its Newton store this Saturday, making it the third store to sell to the recreational market in Greater Boston.

Garden Remedies, located at 697 Washington Street in Newton, will be by appointment-only. The store already runs a medical marijuana dispensary at the same location.

Alternative Therapies Group is open in Salem. NETA became the first Boston area store accessible by public transit when it opened for recreational sales in Brookline in March.

Garden Remedies manufactures products in Fitchburg, has a medical marijuana dispensary in Melrose, and is planning to open a store in Marlborough for medical and recreational sales.

Karen Munkacy, founder, president and CEO of Garden Remedies, said in a statement, “This is tremendously meaningful to me, as a breast cancer survivor and long-time legalization advocate, because it is my deep-held conviction that adult access to this powerful, natural remedy should be a right, not a privilege.”

The company says it is the state’s only cannabis company so far founded and led by a woman physician.

Customers can book an appointment online or by calling the dispensary. There will be appointments reserved for medical marijuana customers, who will not have to compete for spots with recreational consumers.

The dispensary will be open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

There is bus and commuter rail access. There is limited metered parking available, and spots will be reserved for ridesharing drop-offs.
